How to Press DTF Transfers
Perfect application every time with our simple step-by-step guide
Recommended Heat Press Settings
Pre-heat Your Garment
Press your blank garment for 5-10 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. This ensures better adhesion.
- Crucial for cotton and cotton-blend fabrics
- Press from different angles
- Let garment cool slightly before applying
Position the Transfer
Place your DTF transfer face-up on the garment. Position carefully - once pressed, it cannot be repositioned.
- Measure twice, press once
- Center chest designs 3-4" below collar
- Use heat-resistant tape if needed
Press at 300°F
Apply medium-to-firm pressure and press for 10-15 seconds. Ensure even pressure across the entire design.
- Use Teflon sheet or parchment paper
- Consistent pressure is key
- Larger designs need 2-3 extra seconds
Hot Peel the Film
Immediately after pressing (while hot), peel away the clear film in one smooth motion. Peel slowly and steadily.
- Peel at 45-90 degree angle
- If design lifts, re-press 5 more seconds
- Film should come off clean
Final Press (Optional)
Cover with parchment paper and press again for 5-10 seconds. This "cures" the transfer for maximum durability.
- Recommended for commercial use
- Helps withstand 50+ washes
- Let garment cool completely
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Too low temperature: Transfer won't fully adhere • Too much pressure: Can cause adhesive to squeeze out • Wrong peel: Cold peel will damage the transfer • Skip pre-heat: Steam will cause bubbles
Garment Care Instructions
Machine Wash
Wash inside-out in cold water. Tumble dry low.
No Bleach
Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Iron Inside-Out
Turn garment inside-out to protect design.
Avoid Softener
Fabric softener reduces adhesion over time.
